First 5K Cancelled!

I was looking forward to participating in my first 5K, but it was cancelled due to the poor air quality from the various fires occurring in Los Angeles and Orange County. I am sad, but I am sadder for the people who lost their homes and possessions. I will have another opportunity to participate in a future 5K race, but the people devastated by the fires will not be able to replace everything they have lost.

Yeah!!! I was able to run three miles tonight!

Balance

It has been a month and I am still struggling to find balance between my new role as an adjunct professor (running around to three different schools and teaching over 130 students!) and fitting in my training. I was only able to fit in one run this week. My goal next week is to start getting up early again and running or swimming before I go to work. I am too tired to do it in the evening and need to suck it up and get up early!

Crazy Week!

It has been a crazy week!  I decided to try to teach reading at the college level so I am running around to 3 different schools.  I didn’t have any time to exercise!  I kept looking at my weekly activities pie chart and feeling depressed because it was gray all week.  I finally got a chance to get on my bike yesterday with my friend.  We ended up cycling for 22 miles…I really was missing my daily workouts.  I thought I would be sore this morning but I was fine, so I hit the gym to run and swim.  I have to remember my fitness goals and not to push aside exercise when life gets crazy!

Last Swimming Lesson

Today was my last swimming lesson.  The lessons were very helpful.  I feel that I now have two strokes under my belt for the Triathlon next year.  Now I just need to build up my stamina!
